Formula Atlas requires no account, uses no advertising trackers, and does not upload formulas or workbooks to our servers through product features. Formula parsing, language translation, XLSX import, and result validation all happen in the current browser tab.
Scope
This policy applies to the Formula Atlas website, the installed progressive web app (PWA), and the local formula translation, function dictionary, workbook import, result copying, and CSV export features provided with the product.
Processing performed by third-party websites, browsers, operating systems, or file managers is governed by those parties’ privacy rules and is outside this policy’s direct control.
How formulas and workbooks are processed locally
- Formula content: formulas you enter or paste are parsed, translated, and validated in browser memory. The current version does not write formula content to persistent browser storage or send it to a remote server through product interfaces.
- XLSX workbooks: the browser reads a file only after you select it. Sheet names, cell addresses, and formulas are extracted on your device; the product does not upload, overwrite, or modify the original workbook.
- Translation results: results remain in the current page state. Refreshing or closing the tab normally clears the current input and results unless your browser restores the session.
- Function dictionary: function names and language mappings come from local data files distributed with the app and do not require a remote formula service.
Settings stored in your browser
To preserve your experience, Formula Atlas stores these non-content settings locally in your browser:
- light or dark theme preference;
- selected languages, Excel version, and regional format preferences;
- favorites you add in the function dictionary; and
- the app shell, scripts, styles, icons, and dictionary resources cached for offline use.
This data is stored in Local Storage and Cache Storage. Formula Atlas does not currently use cookies for advertising or cross-site tracking.
File, clipboard, and download permissions
- File access: occurs only after you select “Import XLSX” and choose a file. Your browser may display a system file picker.
- Clipboard: write access is requested only when you choose to copy a result or function name. The product does not read your clipboard history.
- Local downloads: when you export, the browser generates and downloads a CSV file on your device. The download is not first uploaded to Formula Atlas.
- PWA and offline cache: in supported environments, a service worker caches static app resources so the core interface remains available offline.
Network requests, hosting logs, and third-party resources
The current version of Formula Atlas includes no advertising networks, third-party behavioral analytics SDKs, social sign-in, or cloud formula translation API. Fonts, illustrations, and core data are provided locally with the app.
If you access the product through a public website, network requests required to deliver its files still reach the hosting service. For security, troubleshooting, and network operations, the host may record standard technical logs such as IP address, request time, user agent, request path, and response status. The actual deployer and hosting provider process those infrastructure logs under their own policies.
Offline installation does not mean the first load requires no network. Your browser may still request static resources during the first visit, an app update, or when cached files are missing.
Retention and deletion
Formula Atlas does not persist formula or workbook content. Themes, preferences, favorites, and offline caches remain in the current browser profile until you clear site data, uninstall the PWA, reset the browser profile, or an app update replaces the relevant cache.
You can delete local Formula Atlas data through your browser’s site settings, privacy and security, or storage controls. After deletion, themes, favorites, preferences, and offline capability may return to their defaults.
Security and limitations
Local processing reduces the risk of transmitting formula content over a network, but no browser environment can guarantee absolute security. Device malware, malicious extensions, tampered deployment files, shared-device access, system clipboard history, or exported files can all affect data security.
Process sensitive workbooks only on trusted devices and from trusted deployments, and keep your browser and operating system security updates current.
Your controls and choices
- You can enter a single formula without selecting an XLSX file.
- You can deny clipboard permission and select result text manually.
- You can use the site without installing the PWA, or uninstall it at any time.
- You can clear local storage and caches to delete saved preferences and favorites.
- If applicable law gives you rights to access, correct, delete, or object to the processing of personal data, you may contact the actual operator. Because core inputs are not uploaded, we generally cannot retrieve or identify your formula content on a server.
Children
Formula Atlas is a spreadsheet and productivity tool and is not directed at children. It does not actively request age, name, or contact details. Minors should use it with guidance from a guardian or educator and avoid processing sensitive files on shared devices.
Policy changes
We may update this policy when product features, deployment methods, or applicable laws change. Material changes will be identified by a new version number, effective date, or prominent notice. Continued use after an update means you have reviewed the changes, except where law requires separate consent.
